GPTC Summer Meeting; We will have our Summer Meeting on Thursday evening, June 23 at 7pm at Chuck's
office in Broomall. Click here for the agenda. Please RSVP if you can attend. FaceBook event invitations will
also be sent and you can respond there if you wish. Chuck's office address is: Kelly Welde & Co LLP, CPA's
510-A Abbott Drive, Broomall, PA 19008 (located in the Abbott Office Condos)
Big June Competition Week coming Up !! The April 30/ May 1 weekend was a busy one with Penn/Triple
Crown/Broad Street all in 3 days. Well, the early part of June will also be busy for GPTC. The Moorestown
Rotary 8K (Grand Prix) and the Wissahickon Trail Classic 10K (Off Road) are BOTH on Saturday, June 4.
Please respond to Paul's request if you can run Wissahickon. You will hear from Mike regarding
Moorestown. We are still competitive in both series but we need to start cutting into our deficit as both races
represent the halfway point for 2011.
The following weekend is the Mid Atlantic USATF Track Championship at Widener University in Chester. Most
events are on Sunday, June 12. The javelin and 5000 meters are Saturday, June 11.
I'd like to try and re-establish our club presence at this meet. Our attendance at the last few editions has been
on the light side. I hope to bring it back to when we had 30+ people show up at Indoors at Ursinus a few
years ago. Perhaps some of the LDR people might want to try this out ?? The 5000 is on a Saturday night at
7pm which is something different. There are also relays Sunday afternoon for 4x800, 4x400 and 4x100.
Uniforms: I've reordered men's medium singlets. They are on backorder and will be available in a few weeks.
We have plenty of men's larges and women's GPTC vests. Singlet is part of your membership fee.
Replacements or additional singlets are $20. I am also ordering RED track shorts and racing tights for those
that have been unable to find them in stores. The cost will $16 for these. So far , for GPTC warmups, I show
the following people: Jeff Robinson, Kyra McGrath, Tim Jones, Kyle Mecklenborg, Jim Assal, John Tran, Bruce
Rash, Craig Strimel, Tom Jennings, Bill King and Chelsea Miles (jacket only). I will let you know the cost
ASAP. Please check out sizing The warmups are the Brooks Podiums at www.brooksrunning.com . Let me
know if you want to be added to the list…… LAST CALL !
Saturday's NJ Champs 4x100: It looks like we have too many "maybe's" to be certain of a 4x100 Saturday at
Rowan. If you are still interested in this, I suggest showing up early and we will see if we can scrounge
something up. Otherwise, I'd like to try again at Mid Atlantica on June 12.
Track Pentathlon / Throws Triathlon: Volunteers will be asked for soon. Please help us make this another
success if you can help. Also, if you wish to compete, remember that there is a cap on the event and slots
have already been taken. Please try to promote the events to everyone you know.
Harriers' Ball: Date in November to be announced. I'll need volunteers to plan and execute this event. For
new members, this is our big social event. Although we carve out 20 or 30 minutes for awards, etc, it's
basically a big party and anyone/everyone is invited whether they are members or not. Stay tuned.

USATF 8K Road Championship - Saturday, May 21, Williamsburg, VA
http://www.usatf.org/events/2011/USAMasters8kmChampionships/index.asp
This looks like a very good opportunity for a GPTC team effort. Ten year age group teams, 3 scorers needed.
Is this something we want to do ?
So far, there is some interest but we need 3 in each age group to field teams.
Team GPTC Sweats
Two years ago, we ordered the blue Brooks Podium team sweats that you see many members wearing. I
think we have enough new members that it would be worth while reordering. Let me know how many of you
are interested and I will get a price and get back to everyone. We have some interest (7) but I would like to get
at least a dozen. It will keep the cost of the artwork (logo) down the more we get.
Club and USATF 2011 Renewals
Don't forget to renew. Adrenaline, Cesar Rodny, Mid Atlantics are all within the next 3 weeks. Racing season
is about to begin ! Remember, if you race in FOUR Mid Atlantic ROAD or OFF ROAD team races in 2011, your
2012 GPTC dues are waived. Also, if you compete at any USATF Nationals event, the club will pay/reimburse
up to $40 if you are a paid (or waived fee ) GPTC member.
Also, several guys on the Broad Street masters men team (the ladies are all paid) still owe for their race entry
($34). Please make the check payable to the club and send to me.
That's it for now, Chuck
